Are you board certified?

  • Dr. Guarnieri is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and is licensed by the Virginia Board of Medicine.

Is plastic surgery safe?

  • Thousands of men and women undergo plastic surgery procedures without complications. However, it is important for you to be informed of the risks as well as the benefits of having surgery. Prior to your procedure, Dr. Guarnieri will carefully review your medical history and current health status as well as discuss the surgery in great detail. By carefully following his advice and instructions, both before and after surgery, you can do your part to minimize some of the risks.

Will my insurance cover my procedure?

  • Cosmetic procedures are not usually covered by insurances.

What is the purpose of the consultation visit?

  • The consultation visit is the time for you to express your expectations for the procedure as well as anything you may be concerned about.  Dr. Guarnieri will also look at your personal medical history, current health state and assess whether a procedure is the best option for you.  Making the choice to have a procedure done is a personal decision and Dr. Guarnieri will help advise you with a detailed plan specifically designed for your personal needs.  Dr. Guarnieri will discuss the possible results, limitations of the procedure, and any further options that you may decide to weigh.

Is there a “right” age to pursue plastic surgery?

  • There is no specific age guideline for when one can start undergoing plastic surgery.  Determining whether a procedure is appropriate is based on a case by case review after looking at the individual’s body type and aging process.  There are age tendencies for procedures, but the need for a procedure is based on a case by case basis.

How long will it take me to recover from my procedure? How long until I can return to daily activities?

  • Recovery time occurs over several phases and each person is different.  Recovery typically depends on the procedure you are having done.  Dr. Guarnieri will discuss you expected recovery time with you.

How do I know if plastic surgery is right for me?

  • There are different factors that will be considered when deciding if plastic surgery is right for you.  Typically, good candidates are patients who are in good health, have realistic expectations and fully understand their own motivations for wanting the procedure. People who have plastic surgery generally find that the surgery enhances their overall appearance and self-esteem.

Will my procedure leave scars?

  • Scars are inevitable when it comes to healing.  Dr. Guarnieri operates on areas of the body where scars can easily be hidden, such as in the crease of the skin or under the clothing lines.  We also provide our own Scar Massage formula that helps reduce the color of the scar and also softens the tissue to eliminate the scar from rising above the skin.

When will I find out the cost of my procedure and the financing opportunities available to me?

  • At the end of the first consultation, the Doctor will provide you with a quote for the desired procedure.
  • Our office accepts multiple forms of payment, including cash, check, Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover.
  • We also offer Care Credit as a financing option.  Our staff can help you decide which payment option is best for you.

Can multiple procedures be performed at the same time?

  • It is a relatively common practice for patients to undergo multiple procedures during one operation. Having procedures done simultaneously can decrease the expense of the operating room and anesthesia costs as well as the overall recovery time. The decision to have multiple procedures done depends on which procedures are being performed, the operating time, and your age/health. Dr. Guarnieri will discuss your personal options with you and help you decide whether or not it is appropriate to have multiple surgeries performed at the same time.
